Will Sam get over Starbuck? Not likely.

Starbuck was many thing to many people. For for Sam, she was something special. Together, they were each other’s foil, each other’s solid foundation, although we need to face the fact her background, and inter-personal strain finally wore her down. For this I strongly blame the mother character. I had a mother character like that in my own life, and when she died, I happily took a pee on her grave marker.
Sam and Starbuck’s relationship was built upon two lonely and aggressive souls who could be tough on the exterior, yes soften each other up, just a little, as to not be emotionally vunerable to those who saw them. That area was their private hiding place.
If I were Lee, I’d have taken Sam off active duty. He’s too consumed with grief, as we saw in the previous episode. He needs time and a ton of space. He’ll screw up on the job, and someone will get killed. He needs to be alone for quite awhile.

Thing is, Sam isn’t under anyone’s rule. He’s not military, he’s just been the unofficial leader of the Resistance until Tigh took that over from him on New Caprica so from what I see, Sam doesn’t have a duty to be relieved of.
