SciFi Red Carpet: Lucy Lawless at The Starter Wife

Lawd I love me some red carpet photos, and I love me some scifi, and as I was looking at the Grace Park pix from the Asian Excellence Awards this week I had the brilliant idea to combine the two.

Sure, It Girls like Heroe’s Hayden Panettiere get all sorts of red carpet and US Weekly lurve, but then hotties like Grace Park gets eclipsed by Masi Oki at her own hosting gig. Such is the power of a Big Three net, even in these cable dominated times.

Well Scifi Stars Need Press Too, Dammit! So starts a regular feature here at watchingbsg.com, Sci Fi Red Carpet. I can’t promise it will reach the heights if Pink is the New Blog, but we are going to give it a shot and have some laughs along the way.

We shall start with a six-foot-debut, or close to it, featuring scifi diva Lucy Lawless at the party for USA’s The Starter Wife Wednesday night. I did not realize USA movies got premiere parties until this week, so let me share my edumacation with you all.

The movie stars Debra Messing as California wife and based on the preview she gets dumped, gets buff, gets kissed, and remembers how fabulous she is … or something pretty close to that anyway. If you want to remember how fabulous you can be, or you are looking to give your girlfriend the best gift EVER, then you can enter into Pond’s Starter Wife promo contest and try to win this rockin’ right hand ring.

Granted, it is not very scifi looking … but at 2.5 carats and a value of $12,500 USD who gives a frak?

Not sure what Lucy was doing there, but I definitely give her points for having the balls to hit any press event so soon after the heartbreaking Football Wives fiasco (although the shirt under the vest comes down at angles that are slightly disconcerting). It takes courage to go out when you know you are going to get uncomfortable questions, but Lucy seems like the kinda gal who is smart enough to know whatever happened had nothing to do with her.

The subject of ex-wives seems to be a subject of particular fascination on TV this summer. Makes me wonder what would happen if Dee got on the fleet version of one of those crazy shows?
