New BSG Season 4 Promo & Final Five Spoilers

by

Wow, if you have not seen the Battlestar Galactica season four trailer yet you are missing a treat. It lasts about a minute, and it has some amazing hints about things to come when the show comes back in January.

Also on You Tube is an quiet but revealing scene from the upcoming Battlestar Galactica movie, Razor, in which Michelle Forbes’ Admiral Cain explains what the title means to a silent Kendra Shaw, played by Stephanie Chavez-Jacobsen.

For some season four spoilers and additional musings, click “more” below.

First the trailer … Laura Roslin firing a gun? What the frak? That was one of the creepier scenes in the minute-long trailer, and Starbuck’s haunting screams at the end makes me wonder if Laura Roslin shot Kara Thrace? We all know Laura’s in a harsh emotional place after Baltar’s acquittal, and previous spoilers indicated that many people would think Starbuck was a Cylon when she returned to the Galactica. Very, very interesting.

There is also a moment towards the end of the promo, a flash of a woman (perhaps Natalie, the new Number Six?) immersed in water. It only lasts a second, so it is hard to tell who it is and what is happening. We also get hints of scenes showing Saul Tigh not adjusting to his new identity very well, and a glimpse of the not so happy reunion between Mr. and Mrs. Anders and the increasing distance between Cally and Chief Tyrol.

But those are just my musings and observations, not actual spoilers from the set. For those, we turn to the spoiler-friendly SyFy Portal, who revealed this week that the first part of the season will focus on the vexing question of the final member of the Final Five. The confused four bond together and vow to locate the fifth remaining Cylon, and they start their search with Giaus Baltar. The cult of Baltar has grown, it seems, and not surprisingly its confused leader is only too willing to take advantage of the sexual favors that come with it. That provides an opening for Tory, who reluctantly agrees to use sex to get close to Baltar and find out what he knows.

I can’t get all that excited about the idea of sex scenes between Tory and Baltar, but it makes sense that the newly revealed Cylons would use the same tactic as the traditional Cylons to exploit Baltar and find out what he knows. Although when you think about it, that says more about the man than it says about the machines.
