Galactica renewed/ New spinoff series started?

According to www.tvsquad.com
There’s good news, and slightly not so good news, for Battlestar Galactica fans. First the good news: SyFy Portal is reporting that the SciFi Channel is expected to give the go-ahead for a fourth season of the acclaimed drama. The announcement may be made even before the show returns to the SciFi schedule in its new Sunday night slot.
The news is not so good for the Battlestar prequel spinoff, Caprica. According to unconfirmed sources at SciFi there are still plenty of things to be worked out about the series, which will take place about fifty years prior to the current run of Galactica. The source says that a premiere of the series in 2007 is probably unlikely.
The article at SyFy Portal brings up an interesting fact: SciFi Channel is known for announcing potential new series that never see the light of day. Anyone remember the big plans for the Quantum Leap remake? Hopefully Caprica will not go this way. Personally, the concept of a science-fiction based family drama interests me.
I have some serious questions here;
Where are these characters from Caprica coming from? What’s their origin? Are these a lost tribe? How have they lived, and did/do they have defenses or a BattleStar? I wonder how this will add to Galactica. Personally, it could go any direction just as the “prequels” to Star Wars did. One thing is for sure. The cast and direction had better be solid all the way through, or it may hurt the ratings Galactica has now.

Caprica sounds interesting but you do wonder if it might affect the continuity of Galactica. It kind of worries me really so far prequels haven’t had that much success look at the last Star Trek series but if anyone could carry it off it would have to be the writers of Galactica. But still thats a big IF.

I for one have never been thrilled with prequels. To me that’s just another multi-million dollar ad for the series itself.
This had better be good, because if not, Galactica will have a load of eggs on the face, so to speak.
Thanks Dorothy, I appreciate your comments
