Blogging Loose Ends: Unanswered Questions on WatchingBSG.com
Wrapping up a couple Battlestar Galactica loose ends today, as we look back at posts from the past couple weeks that contained questions that now have answers:
Battlestar Galactica was nominated for a few Spacey Awards, but was completely shut out of the winner’s circle.
And here is the answer to the reader-submitted “research riddle” from last week:
Gino’s Riddle
A goddess, a bomb, who?
One new, now plays two.
Of the originals, what now do they do?Gino = Galactica In Name Only, the disparaging name that fans of the old BSG series gave to the “reimagined” version currently on the scifi channel.
A goddess, a bomb, who? = Grace Park who plays both Athena (the warrior goddess of wisdom) and Boomer (loose slang for a bomb).
One new, now plays two = Grace Park again referring to her “new version” of the character on the current BSG show. But in the original Battlestar Galactica, Athena and Boomer were two different characters, played by two different people; back then, Athena was Apollo’s sister and played by Maren Jensen while Boomer was the third of the pilot triumvirate, best friend of both Apollo and Starbuck, and played by Herb Jefferson Jr.
Of the originals, what now do they do? = a “where are they now” portion of the puzzle. Maren Jensen became one of the first people in Hollywood to suffer the debilitating effects of Epstein-Barr syndrome (in the 1980s). She has since recovered, but has left show business behind her. Herb Jefferson Jr. is involved in community and charity activities including the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program, USO, California Paralyzed Veterans Association and California Special Olympics.
